Personal profile

Research interests

·                  Digital Twin for Climate-Positive Farming

·                  3D and 4D landscape modelling and visualization

·                  Interactive Data Visualization through VR and AR

·                 Integrating virtual environment with Remote Sensing and GIS for land and sea planning

·                  3D flooding modelling and simulation for monitoring and management.

Dr Chen Wang‘s work focuses on inter-disciplinary systemic approaches for visualizing and co-constructing visions for land uses, including rural futures and cities as part of spatial planning, and rural and urban development. He develops novel tools for use in immersive environments, including usability design and evaluation in Human Computer Interfaces, urban flood risk analysis by use of digital and 3D Visualisation technology, computer graphics and virtual environment modelling. An example use of these tools is research on contributions of green and open space to human health and wellbeing. Current research is on understanding and planning the integration of land uses, and land use and landscape change at strategic and place-based levels, using remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems within virtual environments. New datasets being built into the tools include the new Scottish Government LiDAR coverage of Scotland, and spatial data representing socio-economic indices.
