Protocol to implement the randomised controlled trials of the innovations (D5.20)

This document contains the guidelines to implement randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in three Food Hubs of the FoodLAND project, namely Meknes (Morocco), Kajjansi-Masaka (Uganda), and Mvomero (Tanzania); as well as baseline and final questionnaires. The RCTs are aimed at testing the impact of different incentives on the uptake of FoodLAND innovations by farmers; in turn, the final questionnaires will be used to assess the impact of the innovations on a number of wellbeing indicators using propensity score matching and other counterfactual approaches. The innovations chosen are the mobile application for precision irrigation and protection in Morocco, the integrated aquaculture-crop system with water recirculation in Uganda, and new bean lines in Tanzania. The guidelines and the questionnaires are provided as Annexes. The deliverable describes the goals and timeline of T5.9; the methods (RCTs and matching), their rationale and their advantages and challenges; the randomisation procedures; the innovations; the treatments and their rationale; the wellbeing indicators and why they are relevant with respect to the innovations and Food Hub conditions.
